Sharp introduce their solar-powered mobile phone, the Solar Ketal.

The Solar Ketai waterproof, solar-powered mobile phone
The first solar-powered mobile phone (its also waterproof!) comes from Sharp and will be available in Japan this summer. As yet, no announcement has been made if and when it will be available elsewhere.

It will be priced at around $420 - $630 and will be available on Japan's wireless provider KDDI network.

The phone will include a solar panel embedded into its lid, which will be able to recharge the battery up to 80% of its capacity. Apparently, one minute of call-time can be had for just ten minutes of charging in direct sunlight. the same time will provide up to 2 hours of standby time.

No other details are available at this time. However, if you read Japanese then visit the KIDDI site here:

The phone is part of their au range and a fruit of their solar phone research.
